Downtown Las Vegas has a new place to eat and to be and Cooper Roofing & Solar is excited to have helped make it happen. The unique new eatery is the Carson Kitchen.
Founded by famed chef Kerry Simon, the much-anticipated Carson Kitchen opened recently at the John E Carson building at 124 6th Street.
Carson Kitchen, from Chef Kerry Simon, opened last week in downtown Las Vegas. Dubbed an “American gastro-lounge,” it has an ingredient-driven menu and follows Simon’s pattern of putting new spins on classic — and usually comfort — foods. It was named in honor of its location in the old John E. Carson Hotel and also is a nod to The Mercer Kitchen, a restaurant of Simon’s mentor, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The interior is heavy on repurposed wood and steel and has a stone oven designed to evoke an old hearth. Carson Kitchen can seat 90 people in the dining room of about 1,800 square feet and also has a 900-square-foot roof-top patio, complete with a 6-foot-tall living wall, which will host DJs and bands.
The rooftop patio is a wonderful feature of the Carson Kitchen. With a gorgeous covered bar and an open seating area, patrons can enjoy the atmosphere of downtown.
Cooper Roofing & Solar installed the deck waterproofing and coating for the Carson Kitchen’s rooftop patio. The pictures below capture some of the work that we performed on this portion of the new eatery, part of the “pride and joy of the Downtown Project.”
As opening day for the Carson Kitchen approached the location was a beehive of activity. The finishing touches were applied to provide the venue with just the right look and feel. At one point we even had our crew at the site working under the lights so the new restaurant could open on time.
With the Carson Kitchen now open, the renovation of the John E Carson building is nearly complete and the rejuvenation of downtown Las Vegas has taken a giant step toward fulfillment.
